Questions you should ask before signing up for a new internet provider.

I’ve been working in the internet industry for good 5 years now which has helped me better help customers.

  • Ask if they have after-hours support for immediate calls
  • Ask if they have after-hours billing just in case your account gets suspended so you can get it activated after hours. (Never assume just because Comcast does it your local isp does it)
  • Ask if you can buy your own modem or router.
  • If your provider provides 24/7 Support have them clarify if someone is able to come out after hours.
  • Ask about the trip charges for after-hours and just for outright issues
  • The difference between managed and unmanaged — Managed is when the member may have full access to your wifi password if you often forget it or lose it they could pull that information from your modem. Vs Unmanaged means, they may not have any access to your router there for if you forget your wifi password you have to login yourself and get it.
  • Many providers will try to get you into a three-year contract So make sure to ask how much will it cost if you have to cancel in the middle of the contract try to stay month to month if you move often
